Gudauri Ski Resort is located in the Stepantsminda region, at an elevation of 2200 meters above the sea level. Gudauri Ski resort is 120 Km away from Tbilisi. The ski season is open from December to March.

.How to go to Gudauri Ski Resort?

It takes about 2 hours, to reach Gudauri Ski Resort from Tbilisi. There are two ways to go to Gudauri one is going by car, and another is going by minibus. Minibus usually goes from the Didube Bus Station. The road is always open. Therefore, any type of car can go to Gudauri smoothly. However, when there is a heavy snowfall, transportation is only able by using snow chains.

.About The Ski Tracks

The natural conditions of Gudauri were the primal prerequisite for establishing a ski resort. The first ski lift was built in 1988. Today, there are 14 ski lifts, and most of them are built by the world’s famous manufacturer of ski lifts, as “Doppelmayr”. The bottom ski lift is 1993 meters MSL, and the upper one is 3276 meters MSL. The opening hours for the ski lifts are from 10:00 AM to 16:30 PM.

Gudauri ski tracks are for everyone, despite the skiing ability level. The overall length of the ski tracks is 70 Kilometers, which includes 20 ski tracks. The skiing tracks are divided by the level of difficulty. There are the appropriate ski tracks for the beginners, intermediate, advanced and professional skiers. Gudauri Ski Resort is a favourable place for the skiers who love freeriding. The climate is dry, and the snow can reach up to 1.5 meters.

.Infrastructure

There are many hotels in Gudauri. Most of them are very nice and comfortable. The prices are higher than usual in the period of the New Year holiday. There are many good places for eating also. Some of the restaurants are located close to the skiing tracks. It’s very convenient for skiers, but usually, there are many people and poor services.

.Safe Skiing

Since 2016, the ski patrols have been working to secure the safety of the skiers. They are experienced and professionals. They can do first aid.

This ski resort came into existence 30 years ago. Today, the development plan grows the popularity of the resort not only in Georgia but even beyond. The ski resort offers a lot of opportunities and different kind of activities to people.

The main priorities of  Ski Resort are the close location and many types of ski tracks. Therefore, This location has become one of the most visiting places at the weekends for Georgians. One day for spending the time in Gudauri is quite enough. It’s possible to start the journey at 08:00 AM, then to continue ski in Gudauri and to be back in Tbilisi at 19:00 PM.

The negative side of Gudauri is that there are many people on weekends. The skiing tracks are crowded at the weekends, and there are long queues at the cashier’s office. The prices at the hotels and in the restaurants are higher than in other ski resorts of Georgia. In a nutshell, if you have 4 – 5 days, it would be better to visit Hatsvali or Goderdzi ski resort.
